Low-income rural residents with chronic disease often have difficulty accessing care due to transportation and other challenges. JSI supported rural providers in Maine in improving access to care through the facilitation of focus groups with this population. JSI was contracted by the Maine Primary Care Association to support them in conducting the focus groups with two organizations, the Health Access Network in Lincoln, ME and Penquis in Bangor, ME. The Maine Primary Care Association (MPCA) is a partner with Community Health Centers throughout the state to improve access to primary care to Maine residents. JSI provided support in developing the focus group guides, facilitating the groups, and analyzing the data. Information from the focus groups was shared with community leaders to improve quality of services in the Lincoln and Bangor regions of Maine.
