The HNH Foundation launched a statewide screening series of the HBO documentary, Weight of the Nation film 4, "Challenges" to raise awareness of the social costs and implications of childhood obesity and to build local and regional action to create access to healthy food and enhance places to walk and bike. JSI worked with the Foundation to conduct 8-12 community screenings throughout New Hampshire in one year.

Each screening included an opportunity for audience dialogue with a panel of local/regional and statewide experts who spoke about the issue of childhood obesity prevention, community challenges, and opportunities for healthy living, and integrating policy and environmental changes that create access to healthy food and enhance places to walk and bike. Each screening event was associated with a relevant stakeholder, e.g. HEAL coalition, regional planning commission, school, transportation organization or health entity, who served as the coordinating partner.

The project and events also raised awareness of the HNH Foundation, its contribution toward preventing childhood obesity, its capacity as a grantmaking organization, and as sponsor of the screening events. JSI worked with the HNH Foundation communication firm to manage media contacts and communications and coordinate event-related photography and/or videotaping. JSI used social media in screening related communication. The campaign messaging focused on policy and environment change that impact childhood obesity.

JSI evaluated the overall project using process and outcome measures. Evaluation following each screening informed subsequent screening events. The final evaluation was used by the HNH Foundation to assess the impact of the campaign, engage screening participants in future HEAL related activities, build support for future activities, identify potential HNH Foundation grantees, and to monitor activity related to the events following the screening.
