Integrating Gender in HIV Programs

The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) aims to integrate gender in HIV prevention, care, and treatment programs. Addressing harmful gender norms and inequities and preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) are essential strategies for reducing HIV risk; mitigating its impact; and increasing access to services for men, women, and people of other gender identities.
