In the Dominican Republic, JSI assisted HIV-focused civil society organizations (CSOs) to develop a platform to expand access to primary health care (PHC), including HIV services, for key and vulnerable populations. Focusing on mobilizing resources efficiently, and increasing the pool of available funding domestically, within the country, JSI, through the Advancing Partners and Communities Project, helped build CSO capacity to better access funds as part of the ongoing health reform in the DR.
This APC technical brief highlights how a local consortium of CSOs, INSALUD, built a cooperative to serve as a savings and credit union for member CSOs and their affiliates, and the challenges and lessons within. JSI/Advancing Partners & Communities. 2018.
