Mourning the Loss of Dr. Peter Salama

John Snow, Inc. joins the global public health community in heartfelt sadness at the loss of Dr. Peter Salama, Executive Director of WHO’s Division for Universal Health Coverage – Life Course.

JSI had the pleasure to work closely with Dr. Salama when he was UNICEF country representative in Zimbabwe. He was a deeply compassionate public health professional, committed to child health, global health security and emergency response, HIV, universal health coverage, and more. Throughout his career, he always inspired his contemporaries to advance patient care for those with greatest need. Pete Salama set an example for all of us working in public health; through our continuing efforts we strive to live up to his example and honor his memory.

The JSI family extends their condolences to his wife, three children and many friends and colleagues and to all those who were witness to his dedication and service.
