NuPITA Case Study: Implementing Early Childhood Development Strategies & Addressing Stigma

Download this publicationEarly childhood development (ECD) is a critical component to bringing up children who are inquisitive and ready to learn. ECD centers not only provide education, but can be used as entry points for a range of services for OVC and their respective households, including HIV prevention information, psychosocial support, medical care, and engagement with the community in support of children.

This case study presents the NuPITA project's approach to strengthening the early childhood development program for G.R.A.C.E., the Grassroots Alliance for Community Education, a Kenyan NGO. By strengthening G.R.A.C.E.'s ECD program, they were better able to provide improved care to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) using the ECD centers. This case study highlights JSI's capacity building approach and tools used to improve G.R.A.C.E.'s ECD program, and thus the lives of children and families using the ECD Centers.
