Optimizing Immunization Services: A Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) of Child Immunization Facilities in Pakistan

Child immunization is critical, but costs can vary due to facility-level factors. A proposed real-time solution is to optimize resources and enhance vaccination services by accurately measuring facility efficiency using existing data. This study analyzes survey data collected in Pakistan from May 2018 to December 2020 as part of the JSI-led evaluation of Gavi's Cold Chain Equipment Optimization Platform (CCEOP). Two models, using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), assess doses administered and stock usage, considering inputs like stock availability and staff members.

The proposed DEA methodology is a valuable tool for immunization facilities aiming to boost resource utilization and efficiency. This study emphasizes the crucial need to optimize resources by redistributing excess stock from low-efficiency facilities.
