SUMMARY

Over the past year, New Hampshire has seen unprecedented substance misuse related problems and unprecedented support for solutions which has created an environment for resources and action never before experienced in our state. The growth in the resources, systems development and state and community action relative to alcohol and other drug use, focused on the opiate crisis has created on-going high demand for the New Hampshire Center for Excellence's resources.

The New Hampshire Center for Excellence, established through the JSI's Community Health Institute (CHI) in 2009, funded through the NH Department of Health and Human Services (NHDHHS) Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services (BDAS).

While originally founded as a technical assistance and data support center to support best practices in youth alcohol and other drug misuse prevention in NH, the Center has evolved into a hub of training, technical assistance, data and evaluation across the alcohol and drug misuse landscape for the entire population of NH including prevention, early identification, treatment and recovery supports. This evolution has been facilitated by the public-private partnership, which began in 2010, when the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation developed a partnership with NH Bureau of Drug & Alcohol Services, a commitment to contributing financial resources to the Center for an expanded scope widening access to services and to Center services.
