Supporting the COVID-19 Response in Pakistan: USAID is Strengthening the Country’s Disease Surveillance and Response Efforts

This technical brief was developed as an update regarding the USAID-supported Integrated Health Systems Strengthening and Service Delivery (IHSS-SD) Activity’s work to strengthen Pakistan’s COVID-19 disease surveillance and response efforts. The Activity strengthened Provincial Disease Surveillance and Response Units, established Command and Control Centers and District Disease Surveillance and Response Units, and built staff capacity in these units through technical assistance, training, HR support, and infrastructure aid. The purpose of this report is to inform project fellows and donors; however, it is also useful for any who want to learn to improve the COVID-19 response in places similar to Pakistan.
