In India, Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV) was introduced in 2017 and was expanded in a phased manner.  In 2021, the PCV was rapidly expanded to the remaining states and now all infants have access to the PCV which is provided free of cost under the UIP. JSI has been providing the technical support to the national and state governments, commencing in October 2020, to introduce PCV in the UIP.

This edition of  the Quarterly Newsletter on Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine looks at how more than 84 million doses of PCV have been administered to infants. This issue highlights the pictures and stories from different parts of the country along with the innovation and other regular sections. It highlights how What'sApp is being used by ANM vaccinators to mobilize mothers, as well as how a chatbot is assisting ANMs in their work.
