JSI is working with the San Francisco Human Services Agency (SFHSA) to develop materials for a community-based social media campaign that will drive enrollment in the CalFresh program among San Francisco residents. To this end, JSI will conduct research to determine key barriers that residents face to enrolling in the CalFresh program and inform the creation of social media messaging and content for community-based organizations and SFHSA. JSI will also test the effectiveness of all developed messaging and provide recommendations and an editorial calendar to SFHSA for implementation.

This project was renewed for a second year. Project activities in 2019-2020 include implementing social media messages developed in 2018, deploying a social media advertising campaign, and creating new marketing materials in multiple languages to support the roll-out of CalFresh benefits among individuals who receive Social Security Income and were previously ineligible for CalFresh benefits.
