SUMMARY

In 2010, JSI, through the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT, established a parallel supply chain (PSC) system for warehousing and distribution of US Government-donated commodities using a third-party logistics provider (3PL). The commodities were previously managed by the Central Medical Stores (CMS). In February 2011, in-country partners agreed that commodities paid for by Global Fund resources for the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) would also be stored and distributed through the PSC.

Specific project activities include overseeing and managing the parallel supply chain and the 3PL provider, managing and sharing relevant logistics information, as well as routine reporting and supervision, and financial administration and planning. Deliverables include a subcontract with the 3PL service provider; monthly summary logistics reports sent to the Government of Malawi/Ministry of Health/NMCP, USAID, and other partners; reports of monthly supervision of the 3PL service provider; and reconciliation reports for advance invoices to the Principal Recipient for services provided.
