In 1990, JSI implemented the Resources for Child Health (REACH) project’s assessment of basic immunization coverage in the Dominican Republic. JSI has since implemented other initiatives in the country, such as the Global Orphans Project and USAID’s DELIVER Project, which streamlined the procurement and distribution health commodities pertaining to the prevention and treatment of HIV&AIDS, tuberculosis, and other diseases.

Currently, JSI is providing support to the Ministry of Health and selected NGOs to strengthen their ability to respond to the country’s HIV epidemic. Through the Advancing Partners and Communities project, JSI is strengthening the HIV continuum of care for key populations, including men who have sex with men (MSM), commercial sex workers, transgender people, and migrant workers. JSI works with local organizations and NGO clinics to provide this care. In the coming year, APC is expanding to public sector HIV sites.
