“Addressing Weight Stigma and Bias in Sexual and Reproductive Health Care” was among the JSI-created videos that received 2024 Indigo Design Awards.

We are thrilled to announce that JSI received more than 10 awards for graphic and web design from the 2024 Indigo Design Awards. These awards showcase the work of innovative design agencies and individual designers across various industries, including those in the nonprofit and social change arena. Our talented Health Communication Team works closely with federal and state agencies, private foundations, and community-based organizations to strengthen the health of individuals, families, and communities.

JSI’s health communication combines more than 40 years of public health experience with creative approaches that support people to change behavior and improve health outcomes.

Reproductive Health National Training Center

The Indigo Design Awards recognized the Reproductive Health National Training Center (RHNTC), led by JSI, for its website and several maternal health resources developed for sexual and reproductive health care providers. The RHNTC provides training and technical assistance to federally-funded Title X Family Planning Program and Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program grantees and their networks in the United States. We partnered with Audio Chemists, LLC, to produce the following winning videos:

We also received awards for website and graphic design:

Vaccines are Another Part of Growing Up: Childhood Immunization Campaign

Our campaign in Santa Clara County, California, won two awards in design for social change (Silver in Integrated Graphic Design and Bronze in Illustration). We developed the multimedia, multilingual campaign on behalf of the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department to help normalize routine childhood vaccination, raise awareness of the importance of getting children vaccinated on time, and encourage caregivers to catch their children up on recommended or required vaccinations. This campaign previously won a Bronze in Multimedia/Online Advertising Design from the 2023 International Design Awards, Honorable Mention for Public Health Campaign in Ragan’s PR Daily Content Marketing Awards, and a Health + Wellness Award from Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) Magazine. The campaign is also a finalist in the North American Social Marketing Awards; winners will be announced at the North American Social Marketing Conference in May.

A Love Letter to Black Women Working in HIV

JSI won three bronze awards for a video and promotional materials created to honor the 2023 U.S. Conference on HIV/AIDS theme, which celebrated cisgender and transgender Black women across HIV movements. The video, created by JSI and featuring four of our HIV and Infectious Disease technical staff, offers valuable insights into their career journeys and experiences at JSI. JSI recruited Black women with lived experience in HIV prevention, expertise in health departments, and a background in the southern United States, as well as individuals from communities most affected by HIV. This level of diversity and inclusion is crucial when trying to overcome the challenges faced by various groups affected by HIV.
