For the March 10 observance of  National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NWGHAAD), here are recent developments in HIV prevention, care and treatment, research, and policy to inform your conversations around women’s health.

  • Affordable Care Act Covers Preventive Health Services for Women (March 12, 2015): This AIDS.gov post notes that most insurance plans are now required to cover many preventive services for women without charging a co-pay or other fees. Among these services are screenings for HIV and sexually transmitted infections for sexually active women, and domestic and interpersonal violence screening and counseling for all women.
