To overcome the various challenges to full immunization coverage, JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) tested a unique, culturally appropriate, low-cost, scalable method of disseminating information about vaccination days. Uniting with the government, and stakeholders, and partnering with local NGOs, the drum-beating initiative was launched in Rajpura and Shillai blocks of the mountainous Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh. Using the traditional, lost art of drum-beating, an innovative form of vaccination reminders was born.
In strengthening routine immunization systems around the globe, we provide regular, reliable, and equitable access to and use of vaccines.
