SPRING Literature Review on Pumpkin in Sierra Leone

Pumpkins have various nutritional and medicinal properties. This review looks at 39 journal papers about pumpkins in Sierra Leone. Articles were categorized by agriculture and botany, storing, and processing the fruit, nutritional properties of pumpkin (generally and for weaning), medicinal properties of pumpkin (treatment of cancer, diabetes, tapeworm, and depression), anti-medicinal properties of pumpkin (allergies and dermatitis). This review also includes an Annex on the pumpkin production and consumption cycle in Sierra Leone. JSI / SPRING Project, 2016.
