The National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC) contracted with JSI to develop a follow up workbook to a well received toolkit introducing social media concepts and use. Working in close collaboration with NMAC, JSI produced a 50-page workbook, published in September 2012, focused on three main areas: strategy, policy, and monitoring. Major platforms and tools (social networking, blogs, wikis, video, photo sharing, etc.) were detailed, with examples of social marketing and health campaigns used to illustrate how these tools are used in everyday practice.

In addition to explanatory text and real world case studies with local and national AIDS Service Organizations, the document included twelve unique worksheets to help individuals and organizations consider, plan, execute, and evaluate online efforts. The resulting document clearly demonstrates different ways social media is used by community-based organizations to create a more authentic, community centered approach to promoting sexual health.
