This report presents findings from a qualitative study conducted by the THALI Project in 2018 to explore the barriers and enablers in accessing TB services and whether the access to and use of treatment differed by gender.

The study focused on the barriers and enablers in accessing TB services by TB patients to understand the demand- and supply-side perspectives and whether they differed by gender. The study also explored the perspectives of healthcare providers from private and public sectors to understand their experience with diagnosing and treating TB.

Findings will inform program implementation strategy and government policy. The study covered:

  • Knowledge of TB
  • Diagnosis and initiation of treatment
  • Help-seeking and access to health services
