Despite the concerted efforts of central and state governments and other stakeholders, full immunization in India remains low. This paper outlines the findings of a comprehensive review of the Universal Immunization Programm and provides recommendations to create an action plan for improving routine immunization coverage. The review was conducted using a mixed-methods approach in five high-priority states in India. The authors analyzed data related to program implementation, vaccine logistics and cold chain, data recording and reporting systems, and program communication.
