SUMMARY

The Technical Assistance to UPAVAN – Upscaling Participation and Videos for Agriculture and Nutrition project is providing technical assistance to a randomized control trial (RCT) which will generate learning and evidence for the use of community media to promote nutrition-sensitive and nutrition-specific behaviors in Odisha, India.

The RCT is evaluating whether community video with nutrition-sensitive agriculture and/or nutrition-specific maternal, infant, and young child nutrition (MIYCN) and hygiene content are effective in improving nutrition outcomes.

The RCT, "Upscaling Participation and Videos for Agriculture and Nutrition" (UPAVAN) is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and led by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, with partners Digital Green, Ekjut, the Voluntary Association for Rural Reconstruction & Appropriate Technology, JSI, and SPRING project staff. JSI and SPRING staff have completed formative research in the trial area and designed community-level trainings on nutrition-sensitive agriculture and MIYCN.
