As the COVID-19 vaccine rolled-out is planned in Ghana, JSI has been engaged to help plan and coordinate the introduction through the COVAX initiative.
The JSI-Ghana COVAX initiative will strengthen immunization services by strategically focussing on planning and coordination of partners and relevant stakeholders, including a National Technical Working Group (NTWG) for COVID-19 vaccine introduction, to prepare for vaccine introduction. We will help prioritize target populations, and develop strategies for service delivery, safety surveillance, and demand generation & communication, thus facilitating Ghana's operational success as it prepares for COVID-19 vaccine introduction.
The project will identify potential COVID-19 vaccine delivery strategies leveraging both existing vaccination platforms and non-vaccination delivery approaches to best reach identified target groups. We will also develop plans to safeguard the security of staff (e.g., during an emergency or major campaign) as well as security at the central and/or regional storage facilities and for in-transit of products.
