SUMMARY

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe has chosen JSI to conduct a feasibility study of Indian Health Service (IHS) services, including behavioral health, contract health and community based programs, to determine if tribal management of these programs is possible, feasible, and beneficial. This study will ensure that the Tribe is ready to begin to successfully take over the responsibilities, funding, and services from IHS.

As part of the project, JSI is conducting a health needs and health care services assessment that includes a community health needs assessment, an evaluation of the current service delivery system, service demands estimates, gap analysis, and a service delivery plan. The development of a management and operational plan, including financial analysis and projections, as well as a business plan, will help guide the Tribal Council to a decision on self-governance.
