Silverio Soares

(Died 2013)

When Silverio joined JSI’s Timor-Leste office in 2005, he was one of the first Timorese staff members. Silverio served as a district community mobilization officer with the Integrated Maternal and Child Health project (USAID/BASICS and IMMUNIZATIONbasics), which became USAID’s Timor-Leste Asisténsia Integradu Saúde (TAIS) project.

Silverio was an essential part of the TAIS I and II project teams from 2005 to 2011, acting as the national technical officer for health promotion and community mobilization. In November 2011, he joined the HIP team as a technical officer, and went on to become the national health promotion advisor.

Silverio’s contribution to his team and to the mothers and families of Timor-Leste was significant. This wonderful young man is remembered for his charisma, constant smile, energetic leadership, and his friendship with all those on staff. He is survived by his wife and two young children.
