JSI has been a public health leader in South Africa since 2000. With many years of experience working and partnering with the government of South Africa and other local entities, JSI has worked in all nine provinces to complete more than 20 public health projects. Our work has strengthened all levels of the country’s health system, from building the capacity of individuals and institutions at the national and provincial levels to ensuring people living in communities have access to the lifesaving health services and medicines they need.
JSI works across the full spectrum of public health in South Africa, with particular expertise in supply chain management, strategic information, and monitoring and evaluation. These areas will be critical for years to come, given their significance in South Africa’s National Strategic Plan.
JSI’s work in South Africa is supported and enhanced by JSI’s global technical centers, including the Center for HIV and Infectious Diseases, Center for Health Information, Monitoring & Evaluation, Center for Applied Technology, and Center for Capacity Development. These centers bring global best practices and technical expertise to JSI’s offices and projects around the world.
In 2018, JSI will deepen its commitment to strengthening South Africa’s health system by forming John Snow South Africa (JSI South Africa), a subsidiary of JSI with formal registration in South Africa.
