Salma El Tanany has more than 15 years of experience coordinating and managing externally funded development projects. Before JSI, she worked with entities including government and research and international development organizations. She was an external relations advisor at the Egyptian Financial Regulatory Authority and technical assistant to the former deputy prime minister and former minister of finance of Egypt. Salma was awarded an Open Society Foundation scholarship, which she used to pursue an MPA at the American University in Cairo. She also has an MBA in international finance and investment, and is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University.
