Binyam Fekadu Desta focuses on preventing child and maternal deaths in development and emergency contexts. He has directed a variety of projects, working with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health to demonstrate primary health care reforms, models of community and private sector engagement, and quality improvement initiatives. Before JSI, Binyam, who has a PhD, worked in HIV, girls’ education, and adolescent sexual and reproductive health at several international and Ethiopian nongovernmental organizations.
