JSI commemorates World AIDS Day, pausing to show our solidarity and support for people living with HIV, and remember colleagues, friends, and family we have lost.

This year’s theme, “Global solidarity, shared responsibility,” is especially poignant as COVID-19 starkly reminds us of what we’ve known in the HIV field for many years: inequality and racism are public health crises. At JSI, we call for leaders, advocates, and public health professionals everywhere to listen to, learn from, and collaborate with local communities.

We also take this day to celebrate our many successes. Last year alone, JSI staff and partners around the globe provided thousands of young people with pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), linked almost 100,000 newly diagnosed clients to care, and supported nearly half a million people with antiretroviral therapy. In the U.S., JSI continues to work to reduce institutional barriers to care and strengthen community responses to end the epidemic. Learn more about JSI’s dedicated staff and inspiring work at our Center for HIV and Infectious Diseases. Together, we can eliminate the structural and social barriers that remain, prevent transmission of new infections, and help people with HIV to live full and healthy lives.
