JSI is proud of its partnership with the government and its community of development partners and of the tremendous public health successes Ethiopia has achieved over the last quarter-century. To celebrate, JSI is hosting a week of events in Addis Ababa, culminating in a gala on February 14 and a 5K run on February 17.

Join us on the morning of Sunday, February 17 for the charitable 5K ‘Fun Run’ at Jan Meda. The run is open to the general public and all are encouraged to sign up at any Bilo’s Café location in Addis Ababa and run (or walk) for a great cause. Registration is 100 birr and all proceeds will go to the Zewditu Meshesha Children and Family Development Center in Addis Ababa. JSI will also host a blood drive at the Federal Ministry of Health on February 13 and several service events for JSI staff that will benefit the Zewditu Center and the Felege Yordanos School, also in Addis Ababa.

Over the last 25 years, Ethiopia has made remarkable advancements in improving the health of its people. Life expectancy has increased while maternal, newborn, and child mortality rates have decreased substantially. HIV prevalence is low and morbidity and mortality from communicable diseases, including malaria, have declined.

The Ethiopian government’s visionary leadership and commitment to expanding access to health care for all citizens has been the key driver of these remarkable achievements. JSI has partnered with the government and its largest donors, including the United States Agency for International Development, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the United Nations, to help transform and strengthen Ethiopia’s health system. Together, we can end preventable maternal and child deaths and support healthy families and communities throughout Ethiopia.
