Latin America and Caribbean Regional Workshop on HIV Programming for Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) and Transgendered Persons (TG)

Download this publicationOn October 10-11, 2013, the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) conducted a regional workshop in Guatemala City, Guatemala on HIV Prevention among Men Who Have Sex with Men (MSM) and Transgendered Persons (TG) in Latin America and Caribbean (LAC). The workshop sought to advance the discussion of and build on PEPFAR’s Technical Guidance on Combination HIV Prevention in addition to the latest knowledge on relevant topics in HIV prevention among MSM and TG for community, civil society, practitioners, health service managers, and government. This workshop focused on issues relevant to HIV prevention, care, and treatment among MSM and TG, including fostering an enabling environment in these respective regions.

The workshop brought together over 85 participants from 25 countries—including the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Department of Defense (DOD), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with additional support from the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), the Global Forum on MSM (MSMGF), and the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO).
