Routine Immunization in India: A perspective

Download this publicationIn 25 years of implementation, the Universal Immunization Programme in India has expanded and strengthened systems that support immunization. However, the program still faces challenges across key thematic areas of programme management, cold chain and vaccine management, recording and reporting, and injection safety. Researchers, including JSI’s Shailendra Mishra (Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program), conducted this review, which covers existing challenges to India’s Universal Immunization Prgogramme, and progress achieved through various measures and initiatives undertaken as a part of year of the so-called “Year of Intensification of Routine Immunization” (2012-2013)
