Successful Strategies, Public Health Impact, Lessons Learned, and Remaining Challenges
The Ukraine Together for Health (TfH) project was a USAID initiative implemented by JSI between 2005 and 2011 that sought to increase knowledge and use of modern contraceptive options among Ukrainian women and health care providers in order to reduce Ukraine's high abortion rate. The intervention used a systematic approach to improving Family Planning and Reproductive Health services in the country, which shifted collective behavior surrounding birth control and contributed to a reduction in sexually transmitted disease.
This overview the Ukraine Together for Health project presents the challenges faced, successes achieved, and lessons learned by project staff over the 5 years of the initiative's implementation. The presentation was delivered by Dr. Laurentiu Stan, Chief of Party for TfH, at the project's close-out conference in September 2011.
