Download this publicationCAPACITY was a 5-year program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The purpose of CAPACITY was to provide technical support and assistance to the countries of Central Asia in their efforts to launch large-scale and urgent responses to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in vulnerable populations.

The CAPACITY project had four primary objectives: To Improve Stewarship of the National HIV and AIDS Programsin Central Asia; Educate and Empower Vulnerable Populations, Improve Quality of HIV and AIDS Services, and Improve Resource-Use through the Integration of HIV and AIDS Services. Over the course of its five-year implementation, the project met these objectives and built capacity within the region to sustain the newly-implemented systems.
