A well-functioning health system requires a strong supply chain to ensure antiretroviral medicines, insecticide-treated bed nets, condoms, contraceptives, vaccines, and other health supplies reach those most in need in a secure, timely, and cost-efficient manner.

While Tanzania has made tremendous progress, challenges still remain. 70% of the population lives in rural areas where access to essential commodities is low. The Global Health Supply Chain – Technical Assistance – Tanzania (GHSC-TA-TZ) supports the development of an agile, flexible and sustainable health supply chain in Tanzania, and contributes to improving the health status of Tanzanians. This project is closely linked to the Tanzania Country Development Cooperation Strategy and President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and is designed to advance the objectives of the country strategy.

JSI provides in-country logistics support to improve the delivery of health commodities to service sites and strengthen the enabling environment to improve supply chain performance. Activities include strengthening the eLMIS through capacity building with the MOHSW and supporting Logistics Management Unit teams in data analysis, information sharing, and oversight.
