Webinar: Preparing the Global Health Supply Chain for the Next Emergency

Please join our supply chain experts Barbara Lamphere and Gregory Roche on September 16 at 9:00 EDT, 13:00 GMT, for a webinar sponsored by the Building Capacity to Improve Pharmaceutical and Medical Commodity Management In Humanitarian and Disaster Settings program, funded by USAID’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), now the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA). This program supports BHA implementing partners to improve supply chain practices in their crisis response efforts.

We will be discussing how lessons learned and supply chain improvements made in the post-crisis phase of an emergency can better prepare the health supply chain to respond to subsequent emergencies. During this webinar, we will:

• Explore a process that can be applied to learn and prepare the health supply chain for the next emergency, and
• Identify specific activities and areas to analyze to help prime the supply chain for better preparedness.

In addition to this webinar, the Building Capacity to Improve Pharmaceutical and Medical Commodity Management in Humanitarian and Disaster Settings program aims to build the capacity of implementing partners (IP) to manage pharmaceutical and medical commodity (PMC) supply chains in humanitarian settings. The program objectives are to:

Develop training curriculum targeted for field-level IP staff, which incorporates best and promising supply chain practices

• Conduct PMC supply chain capacity building activities
• Share humanitarian supply chain learnings with regional and global communities, and
• Support partners to institutionalize better PMC practices into their policies and procedures.
