With Gavi support, we are happy to announce that we will be hosting a second webinar series to build the supply chain capacity of EPI program and supply chain managers, this time focusing on building responsive immunization supply chains. To be responsive, supply chains need to evolve and adapt to change, whether for a new vaccine introduction or to improve performance. By participating in the series, you will have the chance to consider how supply chain design affects performance, how to prepare for new vaccine introduction and how to manage your cold chain equipment inventory, learning from experts in the field and experiences of many countries around the world.

The first webinar in the series is Part 1 of Immunization Supply Chain Design. It was held on 25 August and focused on key supply chain design considerations.

Part 2 of Immunization Supply Chain Design, followed in September and dealt with immunization supply chain optimization and featured Zambia’s experience with the optimization process.

I. Immunization Supply Chain System Design, Part 1

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Define system design, system re-design and optimization
  2. Identify the various supply chain components that need to be considered when designing an in-country immunization supply chain
  3. Identify specific design considerations related to each supply chain component.

II. Immunization Supply Chain System Design, Part 2

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the relationship between system design and system re-design and optimization
  2. Describe supply chain elements and key performance indicators that might be examined during a re-design/optimization activity, with a focus on the in-country supply chain
  3. Describe potential changes that might be proposed through an immunization supply chain re-design/optimization
  4. Describe the Zambia experience with immunization supply chain optimization: process, changes and benefits/results

III. Preparing the Immunization Supply Chain for New Vaccine Introduction

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify supply chain considerations for new vaccine introduction
  2. List steps to prepare for new vaccine introduction
  3. Describe how to estimate needs for new vaccine introduction
Register for the final  webinar in the series on TUESDAY, 26 JANUARY 2021, 13:00 GMT

IV. Managing the Inventory of Cold Chain Equipment

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe a process for planning CCE needs
  2. List the information needed when managing the inventory of CCE
  3. Identify tools to facilitate the management of CCE inventory

People who participate in the four webinars will receive a certificate at the end of the series. All webinars are available should you miss the live webinar.
