The U.S. Embassy in Pakistan recently announced the delivery of new equipment to health facilities in Mohmand District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province. With funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), JSI’s Integrated Health Services Strengthening and Service Delivery (IHSS-SD) Activity supported the procurement of these essential medical supplies, as well as training for health care providers to use it.

As Mission Director for USAID/Pakistan Julie Koenen notes, “This donation of new equipment for Mohmand District is one more step toward providing critical health care for those in need,” especially women and children.

Promoting health services in KP, a province along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border, is a priority for USAID’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy. The IHSS-SD Activity works with the Government of Pakistan to improve access to basic health services along the border, increase surveillance and control of domestic and cross-border disease transmission, and contribute to the Global Health Security Agenda.
