Adolescent Reproductive Health

JSI works to improve the health of adolescents and prevent teen pregnancy through innovative, evidence-based youth development programs.

In partnership with public health agencies, community-based organizations, and health care delivery systems, JSI's work in adolescent health in the U.S and globally is founded on Positive Youth Development principles, inclusion of marginalized sub-groups, and trauma-informed approaches.

JSI staff provide capacity-building assistance and serve as evaluators and program development specialists and facilitators. We have guided the work of our partners and clients and developed resources and tools that are informed by the latest research and field-tested evidence.

Part of what makes our work to improve adolescent health and prevent teen pregnancy unique is that we operate on the premise “nothing about them without them.” Youth’s ability to live, learn, work, and play shapes their outlook on life, future goals, and ability to make healthy decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. Addressing adolescent sexual and reproductive health issues means taking a “system strengthening” approach that integrate sectors, involves youth, and leverages our knowledge of organizational development, community engagement, and delivery systems.
