JSI assisted the USDHHS office of Women's Health (OWH Region I) in promoting tobacco use prevention education and reducing smoking rates for women of reproductive age. The program was based on the evidence-based tobacco prevention model, 2008 Public Health Services Clinical Practice Guidelines Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence (PHSG). The goals of this contract were to establish new regional partnerships with diverse communities and a Federally-qualified health center in Manchester, NH, while strengthening ties with the NH Department of Health and Human Services Women's Health Committee and its partners, and to evaluate the application of an evidence-based clinical practice guideline in a community setting with women of reproductive age who are at higher risk for initiating tobacco use.
