JSI will support the assessment, development, and updates of Medical, Dental, and Mental Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA) and Medically Underserved Areas/Populations (MUA/P) for Massachusetts. JSI continues to build upon work initially done which supports the development of a state-wide map of access related data using GIS technology to assess needs throughout the state providing a foundation for how the state thinks about federal shortage designations, as well as statewide resources and needs assessment. The project will continue to maintain the GIS mapping, incorporate licensure, a wide-range of health status indicators, socio-economic, and demographic data, state-wide survey, and Medicaid claims data.
