JSI is working closely with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and selected hospitals to implement a Quality Improvement Network for Contraceptive Access (QINCA) using the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's Breakthrough Series Learning Collaborative Model - a proven model for closing the gap between evidence and practice that consists of a series of learning sessions and action periods. The goal of the QINCA is to bring together approximately 20 hospitals and other health care providers to facilitate their adoption of best practices for the provision of contraception including postpartum, postabortion, and within family planning and primary care services.
