The Drug-Free Communities Support Program (DFC) is a federal grant program that provides funding to community-based coalitions working to prevent and reduce youth substance use. The Merrimack Safeguard Coalition received funding from the DFC to develop a functional substance use prevention coalition. The coalition facilitates the implementation of environmental strategies in the Merrimack community to prevent the use of alcohol and prescription drugs among youth. JSI is providing evaluation services to the Coalition in support of the DFC initiative.

As part of this project, JSI developed data collection tools for program measures, analysis and reporting of annual evaluation data. JSI is also developing tools for and conducting key informant interviews. The evaluation services were based on a community-based participatory approach in which community members were directly involved in all stages of the evaluation
