Workshop: Using the UDS for Decision-Making

Dates: 2012

State: Connecticut

Client(s): Connecticut Primary Care Association

Service: Health Care & Public Health Planning

Technical Expertise: Primary Care

Federally funded health centers deliver comprehensive health services to this country's most vulnerable populations including low income and the uninsured. To ensure effective stewardship of federal funds, health centers track performance through the Uniform Data System - a comprehensive data set which reports operational and clinical performance. For the fourth year in a row, the Connecticut Primary Care Association contracted with JSI to analyze UDS data for all federally funded community health centers and Look-a-Like programs in the state to identify areas for improved performance.

JSI developed and conducted a day-long training program for health center leadership. The workshop provided participants with an understanding of their individual 2011 UDS data and how their performance compares with the performance of other health centers in the state and nation. Participating programs identified program strengths and weaknesses and identified strategies for improving clinical and operational performance.
