New Hampshire Emergency Volunteer Training Conference 2012

Dates: 2011-2012

State: New Hampshire

Client(s): NACCHO

Services: Health Care & Public Health Planning, Training & Technical Assistance

Technical Expertise: State and Local Public Health, Emergency Preparedness and Response

Before, during, and after emergencies and disasters, towns, states, and even the nation rely heavily on the manpower and expertise of volunteers to perform many tasks. However, it is often difficult to get high-quality, low-cost trainings to these volunteers in advance of an emergency.

To meet this critical need, JSI has planned and coordinated an annual training conference since 2010 for American Red Cross, Community Emergency Response Team, Disaster Animal Response Team, Disaster Behavioral Health Response Team, Emergency System for Advance Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals, and Medical Reserve Corps volunteers located within New Hampshire. In 2012, almost 200 volunteers attended the free, day-long training conference. JSI's role includes developing conference materials, organizing the conference planning committee, booking trainers, conducting trainings, and providing day-of logistics.
