Perinatal Care Regionalization: Ukraine Maternal and Infant Health Project final report

Download this publicationThe most recent phase of the Ukraine Maternal and Infant Health Project (MIHP II) built upon past successes and capacity, yet also took the program in new directions. Most significantly, MIHP responded to and supported the national presidential initiative entitled “New Life – New Quality of Maternal and Infant Care” (National Project). JSI/MHIP, 2012

The National Project aimed to improve maternal and newborn outcomes through identifying perinatal risks in a timely manner; improving access to services and referral systems (from lower to higher levels of care); expanding compliance, continuity and comprehensiveness of care; and creating third-level “centers of excellence.”

The technical assistance that MIHP provided to the National Project included developing national laws and regulations related to the regionalization of perinatal care and providing technical support to partner regions for developing comprehensive regional strategies related to the regionalization of perinatal care. This final report describes JSI's activities and conclusions from August 2011 - September 2012.
