SCMS In Brief - In Zimbabwe: Integrating supply chain management into pre-service training of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and nurses

Download this publicationThe Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) was established to collaborate within country and global partners to ensure a reliable, cost-effective and secure supply of high quality medicines and health products for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment. SCMS is managed by JSI and funded as part of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.

In Zimbabwe, SCMS is conducting pre-service training for pharmacy personnel and nurses before they begin working at their posts. Training these medical professionals before they start working saves time and resources, as personnel will not need to be pulled away from their service to receive training. Furthermore, pharmacists and nurses, once trained, will be equipped with essential logistics and supply chain management skills from day one of their service.
