NFHP Technical Brief 6: Improving Access to Family Planning in Services in Rural Areas
Although Nepal’s family planning services were well established, they were largely delivered by facility-based service providers, which meant that those in rural areas had limited access. To improve access, NFHP developed a training curriculum for community-based providers, selected training sites, conducted training and follow-up in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population. The training reached 1630 community level providers from 17 districts. Given the success of the trainings, it is recommended that the approach be expanded to the other districts.
