This case study is part of a larger effort to document and increase understanding of the various approaches for supporting children affected by HIV and AIDS is South Africa and around the world. This case study offers a detailed examination of the Care for Caregivers
(C4C) model. Information gathering took place in March and April 2009 at National Association of Child Care Workers (NACCW) headquarters and selected program sites in Eastern Cape and Kwa-Zulu Natal. Identified strengths of the C4C program include implementation by clinically skilled persons external to the community, attention to reducing the stigma of mental health issues and HIV and AIDS, and a focus on improving team dynamics.
