Russia: Integrating Family Planning Into the Health System. A Case Study of the Maternal and Child Health Initiative
This case study looks specifically at the integration of family planning into the other Women and Infants' Health (WIN) and Maternal and Child Health Initiative (MCHI) project activities. The objectives were to provide a new evidence-based model for reproductive health care services and to increase access to, demand for, and quality of these services, as well as to increase the practice of preventive health behaviors among women in the community. As a result, access to client-centered counseling has increased, unplanned pregnancies have decreased, and the abortion rate has declined.
