Viral Hepatitis Training (2002 - 2003)
JSI's Denver office developed and provided training on viral hepatitis to health care providers in the family planning, community health and rural health sectors with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The project's goal was to increase providers' confidence and effectiveness in conveying prevention messages to those at risk of infection from viral hepatitis (A, B or C), as well as in counseling and managing patients who are infected. The project began with a needs assessment conducted with a sample of targeted providers in Region VIII (Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming). JSI developed a curriculum, utilizing the needs assessment data to design training modules covering the topics of prevention counseling, testing/serology and treatment, co-infection, and integration of services into various health care settings
